History

This homemade bakery featuring “Just D'sserts” has been in business since May 2004, when a single mother decided to pursue her love for baking out of her home. Since then Donna English has worked at local vendor fairs, partnered with non-profit organizations, sold to restaurants (The River Palm Terrace in Edgewater), and catered corporate functions, parties and weddings.  New to the menu are the gluten free brownie and sugar free cakes, it’s very important to JDS that everyone, despite special dietary restrictions enjoy a great tasting dessert which is made with love! Just D’sserts by Sparkle (JDS) opened its very own bakery on Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Elmwood Park, NJ.

Meet Sparkle.  Donna English had originally started her career as an accountant in the non-profit world for over 20 years. After losing her job in December 2008, this God-fearing woman decided to trust in the Lord to order her steps. Five years after starting Just D’sserts by Sparkle, Donna English of Hackensack, NJ, is opening her first store on Route 46 in Elmwood Park, NJ. 

Nicole Applewhite "Coco"
Senior Cake Decorator/ Co-Owner

Meet Coco, the one who brings life into your cake. Nicole Applewhite graduated from Saint John's University with a degree in elementary education and emphasis in Spanish.  She has actually never taught a day in her life, though she did train herself to become a talented pastry chef.  Although she is still learning, she has been decorating and perfecting her skills for the last two years. As a gifted artist and risk taker, Nicole has provided to the demand of customers and successfully made things that she has never made before. Coco's specialty is in leopard and cheetah prints.
